3 Reasons Obama Should Scare You

There are many reasons that Obama should not be our next President. I have listed the 3 here that best put it in perspective.

1)   The Policy - Iraq - Obama wants to ignore the successes there for no other reason than to prove a point...that Bush lied.
The Flaw - Lack of Vision - Obama is saying that he chooses to ignore the advice of our military, of which he has no background, for no other obvious reason than to shame the Bush administration. The reasons that got us into Iraq are of no consequence when determining the course of action going forward. It is easy for Obama to say he opposed the war from the start, because he wasn't part of the vote at the time. Be that as it may, this does not make the course of action he proposes correct now. The best way to bring peace and prosperity to Iraq and the region, is to allow the democracy to win out. A successful democracy in Iraq will most certainly cause change to the region. Iran's youth is becoming less patient with their leadership, and a successful Iraq could be the spark of hope they need to make the change for themselves. This would be the path to successfully averting a war with Iran. If that happens, how soon would other Middle Eastern nations desire to have that sort of freedom and prosperity? Is it the easy path for America? Certainly not, but the right path never is and the right is the path America has historically taken.

2)   The Policy - Taxes - Obama favors raising taxes on people earning more than $125K and raising the capital gains tax.
The Flaw - Bad Economic Policy - The raising of taxes on higher income earners is a sure way to bring our economy further down and push America further into a welfare state. Obama is actually telling Americans that the dream of success comes with a high price tag, so why bother? He is saying, be satisfied with your low income and do not dare to dream bigger or you will be punished. And heaven forbid you get lucky and come into unexpected money...I will take that from you too! The problem is when you start taxing the people that actually provide work for Americans, it reduces their capacity to add more jobs and could lead to more jobs being cut or sent overseas. Curbing spending, and lowering taxes has a much better effect. People will all have more money to spend, leading to a stronger economy. A stronger economy tends to bring in more jobs which, when given time, leads to more tax revenue. The real solution, and I do not hear this from either camp, is to do away with the income tax altogether in favor of a federal tax on goods and services. This would assure all are paying a level percentage of tax, and in essence gives you more control of your overall tax expenditure. It should also lower the percentage for all as this simple step would eliminate not only an overfed bureacracy in the IRS, but it will eliminate the undergorund economy that exists in the form of the large level of non-reported income that exists today (illegal immigrants, drugs dealers, etc.) At some point they all have to buy something with the money, and at that point tax revenue that was once non-existent will be added to the coffers.

3)  The Policy - Education  - Obama like all Democrats before him, essentially thinks throwing money at the problem will make it better.
The Flaw - No Knowledge of History - This idea has never worked. The money never really ends up where it is most needed, as it typically gets eaten up by the high salaries of the various city school bureacracies and very little goes to improve the actual education of the students. A voucher system would be a better solution. It would cause schools to have a better interest in how they perform because parents will be given a choice, a real choice, on where to send their children to school based on how they make other purchasing decisions, by price and by quality. Schools that underperform would cease to be, much the same way a company that puts out an inferior product eventually goes under. It would also help parents choose a school that was more in line with their personal value and belief systems and not one, that because of no other current alternative, teaches values that are more in line with whatever the teacher wants the students to believe.

I could go into energy and healthcare policies, but both candidates seem lost on these issues, so the people will likely have to address this by electing a Congress more in tune with the American people than we have now. At any rate, I urge all conservatives to do the right thing and vote for McCain in November, even if you are having to hold your nose to do so. We cannot afford even one year of Obama, much less 4 or (Lord, helps us) 8.
