Yes We Can?

For a campaign that preaches "Yes we can!", I sure hear a lot of "We can't" coming from the mouth of Obama.

"We can't continue to eat what we want, we can't our drive our SUV's, we can't our set our thermostats to 75, we can't drill for new oil..."

As Americans, we have the right do every one of those things if we so choose. Are some of the things we do as individuals always in our own best interests? No, but each individual sets their own personal threshold for discomfort, whether it be that they are overweight, or the vehicle they drive uses too much fuel, or a warmer house means a higher gas bill. Ultimately it is the individual, not government, that needs to recognize a need for change in themselves and have the will to make it happen. This is what the country was founded on...the freedom of the individual to choose for him or her self to decide what is right for them, and not the government.

The people get to decide this, not the president, not a handful of Senators, not special interest groups, not the lobbyists, and certainly not the courts.

Mr. Obama, when you stop telling us what we can't do, can you tell us exactly what it is "we can"? In November, the voters will hopefully tell you loud and clear what you and your friends can do...and where you can go.
