Will Smith, a wonderful actor and a great talent was commenting on the view of the world since Obama won the nomination. Basically, he said that it was more favorable. Will, I do not care what they think of us. I don't have to go there and they do not have to come here. So please, just stick to acting and if you feel uncomfortable being there again at some point...don't go!
I am not sure when this happened exactly; but when did America become curious on how actors and musicians felt on the issues of the day? Are there really those among us who wake up and check the paper saying, "Gee, honey. Oil went up again. Who does Susan Sarandon think is responsible?" I am not saying they do not have a right to an opinion, but I do not believe it should be the only opinion we get to hear. Especially when the only actors the media will solicit one from is a left leaning liberal type.
I only ask of entertainers one thing...entertain me. That's all. I do not want to be at a concert enjoying the show, only to be at some point held hostage to some political rant about the plight of the ooh-aah bird and how Bush is somehow responsible for it. I could not care less at that point what you think...I came to escape this for a little while. If you want to get involved in politics, run for office and I will listen to your ideas then, if you actually have any of your own.
I think that is my whole problem with the Hollyweird elite...they offer no solutions at all. It is understandable though. Afterall, their whole existence is one where they dress up and recite words others have written for them. Of course, they have no thoughts of their own. Are they talented? Most of them are, and I admire their ability, but that is where it ends for me. So, outside of the big screen or the stage I will do what any right thinking American should do...I will turn them off and tune them out.
