Older and Wiser

For months we had been as optimistic as we could. McCain was the GOP candidate and though we never really thought deep down he was the best candidate...there he was. I hear a lot of talk about Palin being the reason he lost, but anyone who paid attention should see she may have been the sole reason he didn't get soundly whooped (in terms of the popular vote anyway).

We need to realize it did not matter who the GOP ran up there. The Bush Presidency was going to be very hard to overcome. How could any GOP candidate promise lower taxes and less spending, when Bush and the Republican controlled Congress was out there spending like drunken sailors and not be looked at with much skepticism? Couple that with a vastly unpopular war (due in part to poor media coverage) and having to campaign with one arm tied behind one's back (Obama's broken promise to accept public funding), and it would have doomed even Ronald Reagan to defeat.

This is a time not to wallow in defeat, but to get the GOP back to it's roots, identify themselves as the true people's party, and start looking to the fresh faces of conservatism for solutions, energy, and passion. All is not lost. America has survived much worse and the GOP has always come back stronger. It is the one fact that gives me comfort. The next Reagan is out there. Our job over the next four years? Find him (or her).

Last Minute Things for Undecideds to Consider

John McCain spent 5 years enduring pain and torture. This was by choice...he could have left but it wasn't his turn.

Barack Obama spent 20 years in the pews of Reverend Wright listening to messages of hate. This was by choice...he could have left but didn't until he had to.

John McCain has never had to explain away any of the people in his life...

Obama has had to account for Rezko, Wright, Ayers, Doehrn, Khalidi, and numerous others who either have shday dealings or  hate the USA. One association could be defined as accidental...several is a pattern.

John McCain and Barack Obama have both touted earmark reform...but only one has never asked for an earmark in 26 years as a Senator...the other is Barack Obama.

When push comes to shove...who can you trust?

The Silent Majority

We have a financial crisis in America and the Democratic leadership is almost entirely to blame. Nancy Pelosi certainly does not see it that way and is banking on the fact (no pun intended) that the MSM will help cover it up for her. events set in motion 30 years ago when Jimmy Carter (worst POTUS ever) was in office and was more heavily enforced via Bill Clinton (2nd worst POTUS ever). They are counting on the fact that the people will not be savvy enough to figure this out on their own and help them take more control of Congress along with POTUS and give them a 3rd chance to derail the US train. The GOP cannot win by staying silent on this.

Unfortunately, if the GOP goes after the Dems, the highly financed Dems will certainly respond with an all out media blitz campaign to debunk them and get more bad information to the masses. So, what are we the American silent majority going to do? We need to do what supporters of these whack jobs do. We need to organize on behalf of the GOP and raise money and "awareness" (to borrow a liberal term). There are several organizations out there trying to do just that. When you put the numbers to it, there are actually more of us than there are of them and if we help groups such as American Solutions, for example, with small donations we can get this message out there.

I personally would like to see an ad with a timeline of how this mess was created and tie Barry to Jimmy Carter the way Barry ties McCain to Bush. Show the long gas lines in 1978 and show the long gas lines in 2008 in the south with the tagline..."More of the same from McCain? How about a trip back to 1978 with Obama? Polyester suits disappeared and never came back, maybe it's time that the Carter policies of that era disappeared too." If I had Soros' money, maybe I could get it done on my own. Since I do not, I say how about we pull together and get the message out there...

Google "conservatism" on the web and you will no doubt find an organization committed to spreading our message. Give a couple of bucks. Remember evil wins when good men fail to act. It's what Obama, Pelosi, and the far left are banking on. (Pun this time was intended)

Crude Government

New drilling and more access to our own resources such as clean burning coal could reduce our dependency from foreign sources. It would also keep us going a bit until a new energy source is more available and an infrastructure was in place. Sound too much like right...

At least that's what Congress thinks. They have a much better idea...nationalize oil. That's right. Big government wants to take over oil production. Why? Well, they stand on their record apparently. Their record of vastly improving the quality our public school system, their proficiency in handling major disasters, the excellent care being offered to our veterans in VA hosptials, their perfect record in eliminating government waste, the skill at which they balance our budget, and the ease of doing business with the IRS should be proof enough that they are up to the task.

It should be abundantly clear to every American that even though we are shouting from the roof tops (67% of us anyway) "Drill More!" they just aren't listening anymore. "The heck with the uneducated masses that voted us in...if they knew anything we wouldn't be here in the first place."

Many people want to criticize Bush and McCain for "flip-flopping" on this issue, and it is a term that is being severely misused on both sides of the political fence, but the truth is that Americans should expect their leaders to occasionally look at the situation and re-examine their postions once in a while. The Congress simply refuses to do so. Instead, what Congress is suggesting is that this is all Big Oils fault and that the failed governemtn policies have been in fact working well for us. They need to take off the blinders and re-examine their position and stop trying to push their agendas. This is still a government of the people, right?

Noone is saying we stay on petro for our energy needs indefinitely...what we are saying is to ease up on the restrictions until another and better way is on line. Of course to hear that, Ms. Pelosi, you need to get your fingers out of your ears and stop shouting "LALALALALALALA!" so loud.

Has America Lost Its Way?

In the next few months, we will be hearing a lot about each candidate and how each views the other as being unfit to serve because of this and that. The truth is that neither candidate really serves this nation's best interests at one or more levels. At this time, more than any other in our history, we need to be American's first, and world citizens second. I hear too much from both candidates on the global community. When did this happen? When did we decide that we need to lower our standards to be more in line with Europe?

We are a truly great nation. We should be proud of our accomplishments and be proud that whereever tyranny has prevailed, we have stepped in to help the oppressed. Now McCain, I have no doubt, agrees with at least this much. And I have no doubt he is proud to be an American, and not just recently as his opponent's wife has stated. I do however worry to some degree about his views on immigration, and climate alarmism. We need to protect our borders and culture, and promote a strong economy. This simply cannot happen if we put more regulations on our already heavy regulated businesses. We also will have a problem protecting ourselves and our culture if we do not stop the flow of illegals crossing into this country and then treating them as if they are good thing.

In any other part of the world, 500,000 people from foreign soil crossing a border is called an invasion, and is seen as an act of war. Now i do not think we need to declare war on Mexico, but I do think a good idea would be to start with at least a threat of sanctions against them if the do not take part in helping to stop the flow. I mean, for Pete's sake, they hand out pamphlets to their citizens giving advise on what to do when they decide to make the trip!

For starters, I would like Mr. McCain speak out against that type of thinly veiled encouragement as an act of aggression. Then, I would like him to take a harder stance against Mexico for making this part of their government policy. They bring their sick across the border for free medical care, their embassies hand out ID cards to make getting US documents easier, and seem to do nothing to solve their own economic problems to make crossing our borders illegally an unattractive prospect. We have enough welfare issues here without taking on those of other nations, thank you. Mr. McCain, please do what you claim to do, and put America first. Bi-partisan, shmartisan...if I wanted to work with Democrats, I would have quit my job and moved back home with my parents.

You still have my support, inasmuch as I know you will do the right thing in our foreign affairs. I just need to know that you will protect our domestic affairs with as much vigor. I keep wondering if America has lost it's way. I hope it does not take another attack on our soil to get us back in the right direction. By then it may be too late.
